Services

  • Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long, and either weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your goals and needs. Treatment length varies, but on average is between 12-20 sessions. We will meet virtually for telehealth sessions through a secure platform. In our first session, I will conduct a comprehensive intake evaluation, and by the end of the session, we will come up with a plan for treatment. We’ll set clear, practical and achievable goals and work towards them collaboratively.

Individual therapy with me is flexible, individually-tailored and dynamic. I encourage open communication and often provide in-the-moment interpersonal feedback that can help address core underlying themes and problem areas.

  • Group therapy can be great for anyone who wants to work on specific target areas, while challenging and strengthening their capacity for interpersonal relationships. This type of therapy can happen in conjunction with individual therapy, or can be done on its own. Some people find group therapy more tolerable than individual, as there is less pressure to speak. Many enjoy gaining the support of the other group members and making new bonds that can be long-lasting.

  • I offer Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples in distress. EFT is based on Attachment Theory, and on the premise that humans are biologically wired to seek connection with others. Couples sessions are 60 minutes long and focus on repairing attachment-based conflicts and helping individuals connect to their emotions within the relationship. Treatment length can vary, but is typically 8-20 sessions.

  • I offer clinical supervision to psychologists-in-training. I’ve acted as a clinical supervisor to doctoral students at Mount Sinai and Princeton Medical Center/Penn Health. My supervision style is DBT-informed, integrative and practical. In addition to behavior change, I focus on the in-the-moment interpersonal dynamics in the room, as well as the patient’s motivation and readiness for change.

  • I offer 60 or 90-minute workshops to schools, businesses and organizations looking to help shareholders identify and manage stressors and increase resilience. As part of the workshop, individuals are asked to reflect on both personal and environmental contributors to their stress and consider which elements they have the power to change.

  • If you are seeking treatment for an established or suspected eating disorder, a comprehensive eating disorders intake will be a vital first step in our work together. The intake process can last 1-2 sessions and may involve obtaining collateral information from others in your life. I will help determine the most appropriate level of care for you, and in some cases, this can mean referral to other providers or centers. If you we do proceed with regular outpatient therapy together, we will create a detailed treatment plan and work collaboratively towards your goals. Examples of goals can include reducing out of control binge eating, stabilizing weight and reducing body image distortions.

Sometimes treatment for eating disorders can include the involvement of other medical providers, such as psychiatrists, dietitians and primary care physicians. If deemed necessary, I will make recommendations for including other professionals in your care.

  • Many people suffer from feeling out of touch with their bodies and out-of-control with their eating. Others struggle with feeling dissatisfied or unhappy in their bodies. Often these two problems go hand in hand. Through individual sessions, we can work together to build awareness of your hunger-fullness cues to increase “intuitive eating”, e.g., using your body as a guide to know when to eat, how much to eat, and when to stop. Additionally, we can work together to increase acceptance of your body and decrease self-criticism and self-judgment.

  • I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have worked on DBT teams at Stanford and at Princeton Medical Centers. DBT is a treatment that was created by Marsha Linehan in the 1990s to bridge the gap she found in traditional CBT treatment for individuals with depression, chronic suicidality and out-of -control behaviors. Individual DBT sessions are weekly 50-minute long sessions wherein we work together to create “life worth living” goals and set specific, measurable treatment targets to achieve those goals. DBT is a structured, behavioral treatment that involves weekly homework and a deliberate, intentional commitment to making changes in one’s unhelpful or ineffective behavior.

I offer individual one-on-one DBT sessions and will be happy to work in conjunction with other members of your DBT treatment team. Please note that I do not offer “full package” DBT, which involves multiple therapy components, including DBT skills group and phone coaching, in addition to individual therapy. If you are interested in full-package DBT, I am happy to offer referrals.
