Do we mesh?
I offer individually-tailored, authentic and empowering psychotherapy, informed by research.
Because the one constant in life is change, I help my clients cope with life's unpredictability and build resilience. Below, you’ll find more about my specialties and the different principles that inform my approach.
My specialities
I work with adults struggling with out of control emotions, relationship issues, anxiety and depression, eating and body image issues and low self-confidence. I have specialized training in eating disorders, as well as DBT, and EFT for individuals and couples. I use evidence-based interventions and stay up to date on the latest empirical research to inform my practice.
Individually-tailored
I believe the best therapy is individually-tailored, goal-oriented and time-limited. I will work with you to understand your current goals, create a customized treatment plan, and help you meet your goals within a reasonable time-frame. While many practices encourage their clients to keep coming back, week after week, sometimes for decades- my aim is to help you build a “toolkit” of skills that will sustain you when you are out in the world on your own.
Empathetic, not sympathetic
I treat my clients with respect and dignity and believe every individual is the best expert of themself. At the same time, I am not afraid to push people to reach their full potential. In therapy as in life, I believe authenticity and straight-forwardness is best.
Consultation
In addition to psychotherapy, I provide clinical supervision to psychologists-in-training, create targeted workshops for academic programs, and provide consultation to businesses on topics like: assertiveness, mindful eating and stress management.
I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed therapy.
I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed therapy. DBT is a behavioral treatment similar to CBT, that is focused on helping people conquer out-of-control emotions, reduce problematic behaviors and build a life that is personally fulfilling. Whereas CBT is focused on change, DBT offers a balance between change and acceptance and purports that these seemingly opposite constructs are necessary at the same time.
Traditional DBT involves a complex, multi-component package of individual therapy, group therapy, telephone coaching and a therapeutic team. I do not offer traditional DBT, especially since I work on my own without a team. Instead, I focus on distilling the core concepts and skills of DBT and use this as the heart and soul of my individual therapy.
